Care & Cleaning Tips
Copper
Copper is a unique metal that credits a great deal of its appeal to its aged qualities and green patina. To retain the character, charm, and rustic warmth of copper, it is recommended NOT to clean it with detergents, abrasives, or commercial cleaners.
To remove excess dust, cobwebs or other matter, use a soft dry brush (i.e. a dustpan brush) or a soft dry cloth (i.e. a dry ‘Chux” or similar dry cloth) ONLY.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel’s resistance to corrosion and staining, low maintenance, relatively low cost and familiar lustre make it an ideal material for many applications.
Fittings should be thoroughly treated before installation with neutral oil such as ‘Steel Kleen’ and this should be repeated at least 4 times a year.
If serious corrosion occurs use ‘Steel Power’ designed for use on stainless steel and follow with an oil treatment.

Aluminium
Like stainless steel, aluminium's resistance to corrosion and staining, means it is a relatively low maintenance metal, which makes it an ideal material for many applications – seaside or coastal locations in particular.
To retain the character, allure and shimmer of aluminium it is recommended NOT to clean it with detergents, abrasives, or commercial cleaners.
To remove excess dust, cobwebs or other matter, use a soft dry brush (i.e. a dustpan brush) or cobweb broom ONLY.
Glass panels or lens may be cleaned using a mild detergent or glass cleaner such as ‘Windex’
Diecast, Sand Cast and Powder Coated Aluminium
Whilst this low maintenance metal is still robust enough to resist most weather conditions, it is NOT suitable for seaside or coastal locations.
To retain the character, texture, and finish it is recommended NOT to clean it with detergents, abrasives, or commercial cleaners.
To remove excess dust, cobwebs or other matter, use a soft dry brush (i.e. a dustpan brush) or cobweb broom ONLY.
To clean Sand Cast fittings, refrain from using fabric to clean the metal frame as the textured finish cloth may leave lint or fluff.
Glass panels or lens may be cleaned using a mild detergent or glass cleaner such as ‘Windex’.
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate exterior lighting will maintain its finish as long as it is cared for correctly.
Cleaning polycarbonate exterior light fittings will greatly extend the life of the fitting. To remove excess dust, cobwebs or other matter, use a soft dry brush (i.e. a dustpan brush) or cobweb broom ONLY.
Glass panels or lens may be cleaned using a mild detergent such as dishwashing liquid, a soft cloth and warm water.
DO NOT use abrasive detergents, scrubbing tools or harsh chemicals
Note - Be careful when spraying insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers, or other chemicals that you may use around the garden as they may affect the fitting.
